Rocksound Festival 2008
From June 6th to 7th my brother Lukas, his friend Diego and I traveled to Switzerland to go to the Rocksound Festival in Huttwil (Switzerland), watching Alter Bridge, Queensrÿche, Europe and Porcupine Tree live! The pictures we shot are finally online.
June 6th
We arrived in the early afternoon while the festival hadn't really started yet. We had the time to get some cervelats and Rivella. The first band we watched playing in the inside hall, was the swiss Kharma metal band.
An hour later, Alter Bridge went on stage. Slighty disappointing performance in my opinion, but fun to watch nonetheless (especially the moves of singer and guitarist Myles Kennedy).
At 21:40 it was Queensrÿche turn. Singer legend Geoff Tate was absolutely awesome, very charismatic and theatrical on stage. Unfortunately I knew less than half of the songs they played...
The show ended even better with headliners Europe.
...and on the notes of "Final countdown" (yay) we drove home.
June 7th
We arrived slightly late and watched the last moments of Shakra playing. After a bit of waiting (and again, cervelats and Rivella) we watched the Euro 2008 Switzerland - Czech Republic soccer match (which was obviously lost by the swiss team...).
After even more waiting, Simple Plan went on stage. Boring. But we had to endure right in front in order not to lose our good positions for the upcoming Porcupine Tree show!
And finally! The only reason we traveled 800kms to Switzerland: Porcupine Tree! Colin Edwin and Gavin Harrison did their own sound check in person.
Headliners of the evening: dutch symphony rock band Within Temptation.
That's not all: after Within Temptation there was a nice "Karaoke from Hell" contest. Diego went on stage singing "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden! Check it out.
